Taking in 9 million litres per day, the Clandeboye site becomes the second
largest processing site for New Zealand’s new Fonterra Group.
The
Clandeboye site on the South Island’s east coast was first established as a
cheese plant. In 1996, Niro (NZ) Ltd. installed UF-equipment, evaporator and a
Tall Form Spray Dryer for processing WPC (rate 2 million litres whey per day).
Next plant was to process 3 mio. litres/day of milk in MVR evaporators and
a large COMPACT Niro dryer. In august 2000 Niro (NZ) was chosen to build a most
advanced powder plant, on a turn key basis. In august 2001 the plant was in
operation. The new plant features three MVR evaporators, a Multi Stage drying
plant with three vibrating fluid beds, sanitary bag filters, powder silos and
(AVAPAC) packing lines. Total capacity: 18 tons of milk powder per hour or 12
bags per minute.
