The automatic CIP system in a brewery is often given less consideration
than the main processes. However, its design and function have a substantial
effect on running cost and hygiene conditions. The right setup determines the
cleaning result and thus production safety and beer quality. Detergent costs,
water consumption, availability of media and the brewing procedures themselves
decide on the right configuration of the system.
Additional safety is
provided by installing dedicated systems for different process areas.
Separating filtrate and non-filtrate area reliably prevents the carry-over
of yeasts and possible beer-spoiling organisms.
The design of the
automatic cleaning system must allow for pipe cleaning as well. Only the
consistent hygienic design of tanks and pipework ensures a consistently high
product quality.
