GEA PHE Systems, responsible for the plate heat exchanger business within the
GEA Process Equipment Division, has begun production of brazed plate heat exchangers of the latest GB series in its new production facility at York in Pennsylvania/USA. The end of 2007 will see the start-up of the second construction stage of the new facility for the manufacture of gasketed plate heat exchangers. With a total investment volume of 60 million dollars York will be the leading center of competence for plate heat exchangers on the American continent and will employ more than 260 people by the final completion stage.
In only five months an ultramodern production facility for brazed plate heat exchangers was built in York. With the completion of the 2nd construction stage of the facility for gasketed plate heat exchangers at the end of 2007 GEA PHE Systems North America will be in a position to offer a complete range of gasketed and brazed plate heat exchangers for just about every industrial application.
The US-American market is the world’s largest single market for plate heat exchangers. The new facility in York provides direct customer proximity and guarantees short delivery times. Kirby Lindtveit, Senior Vice President Sales of GEA PHE Systems North America, sets out the objectives of the company’s million Dollar investment: ”York is the center of US-American refrigeration and air conditioning engineering with excellently qualified engineers and specialists. The cooperation between American and German engineers and the fitting of the plant with the latest manufacturing technology to ensure a state-of-the-art product range consolidates the leading position of GEA PHE Systems in the plate heat exchanger sector.“

The opening of the new location in the USA also clearly illustrates the global orientation of GEA PHE Systems. Back in 2003 a new facility for gasketed plate heat exchangers was opened at the company headquarters in Sarstedt / Germany and in 2005 a further large press was integrated into production operations at Ystad / Sweden. At the beginning of this year GEA Ecoflex / India started up a highly modern manufacturing plant for small and medium-sized plate heat exchangers in
Pune / India to cover the needs of the Asian / Pacific market. With this location concept
GEA PHE Systems will continue in the future to be a synonym for innovation and worldwide customer proximity.
